The page loaded fine. What we have here is America.gov, a government chatbot launched Tuesday with the claim that it "matches and in some way exceeds the state of the art," which then immediately cited the National Archives: Biden, 306 electoral votes, Trump 232. The correct answer. This was, apparently, a defect.
By Wednesday morning the fix was in, in the traditional sense. The service returned "Chat is unavailable right now" accompanied by a stock photo of a child faceplanting on ice, which is honestly the most honest error message ever shipped by a federal portal. By the time CNN's fact-checker got back in, the bot had been tuned to refuse the question entirely — the engineering pattern here is well known to anyone who's watched a RLHF pass scrub a model's spine. Yesterday: debunk. Today: "I can't answer that." The delta between those two builds is the entire story.
Also notable: the president wants "artificial intelligence" renamed "super intelligence," because the only thing scarier than an AI winter is an SI winter, presumably. Expect the rebrand to arrive before the passport portal does, and possibly before the chat does.
The faceplant photo is still the best documentation of a rollback I've seen in production. Keep it in the 500 page.
